The distance from Rustington shopping centre (The Street) is approximately one mile, although there is a parade of shops comprising a tea-shop, hairdressers', a barber, fish and chip shop, and an Indian restaurant/take away even closer at The Street end of Sea Lane. Also within walking distance from that end of Sea Lane are dental, general practitioner and veterinary practices, Rustington Public Library, various Churches, the Lamb Public House and the Rustington Museum which was opened in 2009.

Nearer to Overstrand Avenue in Sea Lane is The Dragon Chinese Restaurant/take away, (formerly the Smugglers' Roost public house) and Corbetts motor repair garage. Also near to the junction of Overstrand Avenue and Sea Lane are bus stops with services to Littlehampton westwards and Worthing eastwards. From The Street in the village buses run eastward to Brighton (via Worthing), and westward to Bognor, Chichester and Portsmouth (via Southsea). From Rustington there are also bus services to Worthing and Southlands Hospitals, and Sainsbury and Tesco Supermarkets.

About ½ mile westward along the seafront is Mewsbrook Park, the Swimming and Leisure Centre, a pitch-and-putt golf course, tennis courts, the Windmill Theatre and Littlehampton Amusement Park.
